Catering Sushi & Japanese, honestly

Sushi catering is as much about craft as presentation — the nigiri arranged with intention, the hand-roll bar becoming a focal point, and the teriyaki proteins arriving glazed and glistening. Carthage approaches Japanese catering from a full-menu perspective: assorted nigiri and signature rolls built with the attention you'd find in a dedicated sushi bar, a temaki hand-roll station that lets guests build their own with nori, rice, and fillings, and a poke bar that turns the same premium fish into a customizable bowl. Cooked options anchor the hot side of the table — chicken and salmon teriyaki, chicken katsu sandos, gyoza dumplings, and vegetable tempura that stays crisp. Every protein is halal and zabiha-sourced; our suppliers hold the halal certification and will show it on request, and we claim none of our own.

Operating from one chef-led kitchen in Los Angeles means sushi and Japanese dishes can appear alongside Thai curries, Lebanese mezze, or Filipino adobo at the same event — all priced together per guest, no separate sushi vendor premium. Dietary paths are well-marked: vegetable tempura, edamame, seaweed salad, and miso soup service all register as vegan or vegetarian; the poke and hand-roll bars can be designed around cooked proteins or vegetables for guests avoiding raw fish. Mochi ice cream and matcha cheesecake end the meal with a clean, not-too-sweet finish. For weddings, corporate events, or private dinners across LA and Orange County, this is sushi that works the way catering should — beautiful, approachable, and integrated into the larger table.

Sushi & Japanese catering runs about $21$101 per guest for food. Multiplied out, that is what a spread costs at the counts people usually ask about.

Estimated sushi & japanese catering cost by guest count — food only
GuestsEstimated food costPer guest
25$525 – $2,525$21 – $101
50$1,050 – $5,050$21 – $101
100$2,100 – $10,100$21 – $101
150$3,150 – $15,150$21 – $101

Food only. Staffing, rentals, delivery, setup and breakdown are separate lines, and a mandatory service charge and California sales tax apply on top — so the invoice for a staffed event runs meaningfully above the food figure. Smaller counts sit at the top of the band: setup and delivery cost the same at 25 guests as at 100. Every menu halal · zabiha-sourced.

Questions

Sushi & Japanese catering, answered honestly

What does sushi catering cost in Los Angeles?
Platters, trays and pans run $45–$355. Cooked items — katsu, teriyaki, gyoza and tempura — sit at the lower end; assorted nigiri, signature roll boards and the staffed poke and hand-roll bars sit at the top. Every board states its serving count.
Can you serve raw fish at our event?
Yes, with the paperwork it requires. California requires a written consumer advisory wherever raw or undercooked fish is served, and we bring it rather than leaving it to the venue. There is one hard exception: a healthcare facility, senior residence, preschool or similar highly susceptible population may not be served raw fish at all — that is prohibited outright, not something a signed advisory covers — so for those events the raw items come off and the cooked menu carries it instead.
Is Japanese food halal here? Mirin and sake are usually everywhere.
They are, and they appear nowhere in ours. Teriyaki, katsu and every marinade are built without mirin, sake or rice wine, the proteins are zabiha, and there is no pork on the menu. Shellfish is labeled per dish rather than assumed, since it is one of the nine major allergens and appears across this cuisine.
Which Japanese dishes should anchor our menu?
For a mixed room, cooked anchors it: chicken katsu, salmon teriyaki and gyoza carry the table, with vegetable tempura and edamame beside them. Assorted nigiri and a signature roll board raise it, and the build-your-own poke bar or temaki hand-roll bar is what guests remember.
