The occasion

Healthcare catering in Los Angeles & Orange County

What it takes to cater healthcare well — the logistics, the timing, and how we make it work.

Healthcare catering asks for a different posture than any other event. The building runs on shifts that never stop, the margin for an allergen mistake is zero, and the people eating are often having a hard day — so the job is reliability first and flourish second.

The rigor is the product. Allergen control runs hospital-grade — dedicated prep zones, sealed and labeled service, and an ingredient sheet per dish on every delivery — and texture-modified tracks are available when they're needed, prepared to IDDSI-aligned levels with the documentation a clinical team expects. Service is contactless and clearly marked, sorted for the floor or unit it's headed to, so a charge nurse distributes meals rather than decoding a buffet, and nothing about the handoff adds risk to a setting that already carries enough of it.

Most of what we do here is feeding the people who keep the place running — staff-appreciation meals, overnight-shift service, clinic and administrative catering, and the morale lunches that say thank you in a way an email can't. They run on the same kitchen and the same standard as any event we cater, with vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and halal · zabiha-sourced tracks labeled per dish, and the coffee brought to match a pre-dawn break. Recurring programs are welcome and simple to stand up — share the calendar and the units, and we size the service to them.

The settings vary more than the phrase "healthcare catering" suggests, and the service is sized to each. Medical centers and hospital departments order on shift patterns rather than event dates, so recurring standing orders and overnight service matter more than a one-off spread. Outpatient clinics, surgery centers, dialysis and infusion units, and physician group offices run smaller and tighter, usually to a fixed clinic schedule. Administrative and research buildings, pharmaceutical and biotech campuses, and skilled nursing and senior living operators each ask for something different again. Tell us the units, the shift times and the calendar, and we size the service to them rather than quoting a headcount and a menu.

Why Carthage

Why Carthage for healthcare

What you get with us for healthcare specifically — not a generic catering pitch.

  • Allergen rigor, documented not promised

Dedicated prep zones, sealed and labeled service, and an ingredient sheet per dish on every delivery — hospital-grade control, with paperwork a clinical team can file rather than take on trust.

  • Texture-modified tracks when needed

Minced, pureed, and soft tracks are available, prepared to IDDSI-aligned levels with documentation — the modified diets a healthcare setting asks for, handled to its standard rather than improvised.

  • Built around shifts, not a lunch hour

Delivery is planned around rounds and shift changes, contactless and sorted for the floor or unit it's headed to — including overnight service, because the building never actually stops.

  • Feeding the people who keep it running

Staff-appreciation and morale meals on the same kitchen and standard as any event — the coffee brought to match a pre-dawn break, recurring programs sized to your calendar and units.

Healthcare catering runs about $19$52 per guest for food. Multiplied out, that is what a spread costs at the counts people usually ask about.

Estimated healthcare catering cost by guest count — food only
GuestsEstimated food costPer guest
25$475 – $1,300$19 – $52
50$950 – $2,600$19 – $52
100$1,900 – $5,200$19 – $52
150$2,850 – $7,800$19 – $52

Food only. Staffing, rentals, delivery, setup and breakdown are separate lines, and a mandatory service charge and California sales tax apply on top — so the invoice for a staffed event runs meaningfully above the food figure. Smaller counts sit at the top of the band: setup and delivery cost the same at 25 guests as at 100. Every menu halal · zabiha-sourced.

Questions

Before you ask

Can you provide texture-modified meals?
Yes — minced, pureed, and soft tracks are available, prepared to IDDSI-aligned levels with dietitian documentation.
How strict is your allergen control?
Hospital-grade: dedicated prep zones, sealed labeled service, and ingredient sheets per dish, per delivery.
Do you serve staff-appreciation events?
Often — overnight-shift service included. We’ve fed 3am nursing breaks more than once and bring the coffee to match.
Do you provide patient meals?
No — and it is worth being precise about it. Our work in healthcare is staff dining, events, family and waiting-area service, and program meals. In-patient therapeutic tray service is a regulated function that sits with your own food and nutrition department, and we do not claim it.
Can you deliver to several units or floors on a schedule?
Yes, as one order with per-unit delivery and a single itemized invoice. Shift-based service — a night-shift meal at a different hour to the day-shift one — is planned as part of the same standing arrangement rather than as separate bookings.
How do you handle delivery into a secured facility?
We work to your receiving process rather than around it: dock and entrance, badging or escort requirements, timing windows and any restrictions on what may be brought onto a unit are confirmed for your site before the first delivery. Those rules are yours, and they are easier to meet when they are agreed a week ahead rather than at the door.
Do you provide hospital catering for medical centers and clinics?
Yes — hospital catering is the core of this service. We provide hospital catering services to medical centers, clinics, surgical centres and skilled-nursing facilities across Los Angeles: physician meetings and grand rounds, staff-appreciation meals on every shift including nights, patient-family lounges, conferences and board meetings. Catering a medical center is mostly a logistics problem rather than a menu one — loading dock access, badge and escort rules, elevator timing and delivery windows that cannot slip — so we agree those in writing before the first delivery and run the same route every time.
