Private Events catering runs about $25–$87 per guest, all-in, and the price per guest falls as the guest count rises. Here is what a spread costs at the counts people usually ask about.

Estimated private events catering cost by guest count — all-in, before sales tax
GuestsEstimated costPer guest
25$650 – $1,350$26 – $54
50$1,250 – $4,350$25 – $87
100$2,500 – $8,100$25 – $81
150$3,750 – $11,700$25 – $78

All-in: the food plus the staff, delivery and setup the service style needs. Tastings, rentals, add-on services and California sales tax are the only additions, and there is no service charge. The crew, setup and delivery are shared across the room, so the price per guest falls as the count rises. Every menu halal · zabiha-sourced.

The occasion

Private Events catering in Los Angeles & Orange County

What it takes to cater private events well — the logistics, the timing, and how we make it work.

A private event is the most personal catering there is, and the least forgiving of a generic playbook. A milestone birthday, an anniversary dinner, an engagement party, a backyard celebration in the hills — these are your guests, in your space or a space you chose, and the whole point is that it feels like yours and not like a banquet hall. We start from the room and the occasion, not from a fixed package: how many people, how you want the evening to move, whether it's a seated dinner or a grazing party that drifts from the garden to the kitchen island.

Most private events across LA and Orange County happen in homes and rented spaces that were never designed to cook for thirty or eighty people. That is fine — it is what we do. A dedicated event chef works on site, service staff are scaled to your headcount, and the team is briefed to be present when you need a plate cleared and invisible the rest of the time. By the end of the night the kitchen is cleaner than we found it, and you spent the evening as a guest at your own party rather than its caterer.

The personal briefs are our favorite. A family recipe written on a card, a dish from a trip you can't stop describing, a spread that has to honor a grandmother's table — bring it, and the chef will test it, change nothing without your blessing, and serve it faithfully. Dietary needs are handled the same way they are at every Carthage event: vegan, halal · zabiha-sourced, and gluten-free tracks, labeled per dish and built into the menu rather than bolted on.

Why Carthage

Why Carthage for private events

What you get with us for private events specifically — not a generic catering pitch.

  • A dedicated chef on site

Private events always include an event chef cooking on site, with service staff scaled to your headcount — not trays dropped off and left, but a kitchen brought to your space.

  • Built around your room, not a fixed package

We plan from your space and your guest count — seated dinner, grazing party, or somewhere between — rather than fitting your evening into a menu we wrote for someone else.

  • We'll cook your family recipe

Bring the handwritten card or the dish you can't stop describing; the chef will test it, change nothing without your blessing, and serve it faithfully to your table.

  • Present, then invisible

Staff are briefed to clear and refill when you need them and disappear the rest of the night, and we leave the kitchen cleaner than we found it — so you're a guest at your own party.

Questions

Before you ask

What’s the minimum party size?
Private-event packages start at 15 guests, and garden parties and milestone events typically run up to about 80. For a smaller table, ask about family-style service, which starts at 15 guests.
Will there be a chef on-site?
When your service style needs one. A live station brings a chef to cook in the room, and staffed buffets, family-style and plated dinners come with servers and a captain sized to your headcount. A drop-off order arrives ready to serve, with no crew staying on site.
Can you recreate a family recipe?
It’s one of our favorite briefs. Bring the handwritten card; the chef will test it, refine nothing without permission, and serve it faithfully.
Can you cater in a private home, and what do you need?
Yes — most of our private work is in homes. We survey the kitchen, power, water and service space in advance and bring whatever is missing, from chafers and coolers to tables, linen and service ware. We also plan how we get in and out, because a hillside house with a single narrow driveway is a different job to a flat lot.
Do you serve alcohol or provide a bar?
No. This is a halal kitchen and we serve no alcohol. What we do run is a proper beverage program — mocktails built to order, fresh juices, and mint tea service — and guests are welcome to arrange their own bar separately. Better to know that now than a week out.
Can you handle rentals, linen and staff, or only the food?
The whole room if you want it. Tables, linen, china, glass and service ware, itemized beside a per-guest price that already includes the staff and captains, so there is one number and one point of contact instead of three vendors to coordinate on the day.
