The format

The table serves itself

Platters land in the middle of the table and guests pass them between themselves — no line, no queue, and a room that stays seated and talking through the meal.

  • Nobody queues

Food comes to the table, so guests stay seated and the conversation never breaks for a line.

  • It reads generous

Full platters down the centre of a table look like abundance in a way a portioned plate never does.

  • Suits a seated room

Right where a buffet would dominate the floor and a plated service would feel too formal for the occasion.

Family-style catering runs about $15$103 per guest for food. Multiplied out, that is what a spread costs at the counts people usually ask about.

Estimated family-style catering cost by guest count — food only
GuestsEstimated food costPer guest
25$375 – $2,575$15 – $103
50$750 – $5,150$15 – $103
100$1,500 – $10,300$15 – $103
150$2,250 – $15,450$15 – $103

Food only. Staffing, rentals, delivery, setup and breakdown are separate lines, and a mandatory service charge and California sales tax apply on top — so the invoice for a staffed event runs meaningfully above the food figure. Smaller counts sit at the top of the band: setup and delivery cost the same at 25 guests as at 100. Every menu halal · zabiha-sourced.

    Questions

    Before you ask

How is family-style different from a buffet?
Nobody gets up. A buffet sends the room to a line; family-style brings platters to each table for guests to pass. It needs table space rather than floor space, and it keeps the room seated and sociable.
How much table space does it need?
Enough for platters to sit down the centre without crowding place settings, so we plan the platter count against your table sizes rather than the headcount alone. Long banquet tables suit it best; small rounds want smaller, more frequent platters.
Do you plan more food than for a plated dinner?
Yes. Guests serve themselves, so portions vary and a platter still has to look generous when it reaches the last seat. We build that into the plan rather than sending a plated quantity and hoping.
    Is family-style catering halal?
Every dish is halal · zabiha-sourced by default, with vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free plated to match and labeled — so a shared table needs no separate platter at one end.
